The (re)Birth of the Blog

Hi everyone! Welcome to the official BCL blog. I know like 99% of you are just here for the map, which is perfectly fine, but I wanted to use this blog space as a supplement for discussions, updates, etc.

I should probably address the elephant in the room... what do I mean by the (re) birth of the blog? Well for those of you who didn't know, before I started this particular website using Google Sites (boisechristmaslights.org) I actually ran this project on another website domain that was powered by the Blogger platform. I still had the same Facebook/Instagram/Map platform but the website was just a heavily skinned Blogger blog. It looked like this when I switched away from it:

It got the job done for the most part. The main issues I had is that it wasn't the most mobile-friendly, and after adding so many blog posts (we had one post per house) the navigation started bugging out. Being mobile friendly is a HUGE deal for us, since you usually don't carry around a laptop or desktop PC in your car, you use your smartphone! I decided to bite the bullet and register the boisechristmaslights.org domain - someone already registered the .com - and started using Google Sites to build the website we know and love today.

Google Sites is a pretty snazzy platform and it's free to use. It's not perfect, but it gets the job done compared to other platforms I've tried.
